STROKE IS FATAL TO ERNEST HARDER

A paralytic stroke suffered Saturday proved fatal to Ernest Harder, who passed away at his home on West Platt street Sunday. Some weeks ago, Mr. Harder suffered a stroke, and rallied, but it left him in a weakened condition, unable to withstand the second and fatal attack.

Born in Germany September 16, 1855 he came to this country in 1881 settling immediately in the Maquoketa vicinity where he had since resided. On January 17, 1886 he married Fredericke Loitz. They resided on a farm near Maquoketa until 1915 when they moved to this city.

Surviving are the widow and five children, Mrs. Bertha Rasmussen and William Harder of Delmar, Albert and Mrs. Genevieve Arp of this city.

The following relatives and friends attended the funeral of Ernest Harder: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Eiffler, Mrs. Matt Weier and Mrs. Elmer Swartz of Kenosha, Wis; Mrs. Henry Dagnan of Sycamore, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fischer, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Horst of Clinton, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Schmidt, Mrs. Louisa Hoeffner, Henry Schmidt, Mrs. Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gross, Mrs. William Pohlman, Mrs. Bertha Glisman, Mrs. Rud. E. Paasch and Hannes Arp of Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hubbe, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Weinert and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Hubbe and family of calamus.
