MAQUOKETA — Elsie Anna Hauger, 90, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday at Briarwood Care Center in Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born June 20, 1916, in Davenport to Henry Hans and Louisa Dreesen Martens. She married Harry N. Hauger on July 1, 1940, in Mercer, Mo.

She attended school in Davenport.

Prior to her marriage, she worked with Bishop’s Buffet in Davenport and with the Independent Bakery during her 20s. After her marriage, she was a homemaker. They moved to Maquoketa in 1948. For several years, she worked with Dolch’s Bakery, Maquoketa.

She was a member of Faith Community Church, Maquoketa.

Survivors include her husband; children, Patricia (Stewart) Haylock of Springfield, Ohio, Dr. Donald Hauger of Atlanta, Kathryn (Clint) Mainard of Eatonton, Ga., and Dr. Carolyn (Wihden) Aise of Maquoketa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Sternberg of Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.

An Elsie Anna Hauger Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers and four sisters.
