MAQUOKETA — Evelyn R. Flagel, 77, of Maquoketa, died Thursday at Clover Ridge Place, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Maquoketa to Peter and Ella Durkop Clark. Her mother died when she was 4. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Mabel. She married Kenneth L. Flagel Sr. on Sept. 11, 1947, in Maquoketa. He died in 1992.

She was educated in Clinton schools.

She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she worked with Hoffman Eggs and Clinton Engines, both in Maquoketa.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth (Mari) Flagel Jr. of Lost Nation, Nancy (Mike) Willner of Montello, Wis., Judith (Mike) Onsager of Fairbury, Ill., and Shelly (Loras) O’Connell of Maquoketa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille (Jim) Driscoll of Davenport.

An Evelyn R. Flagel Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepmother, husband, one grandchild and two sisters.
