SPRINGBROOK — Leona Caroline Scheckel, 95, of Springbrook, died Saturday at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

She was born to John P. and Rosina Jacobs Weis on June 6, 1911, south of Springbrook. She married Matt Scheckel on May 2, 1933, in Springbrook. He died in 1999.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook; the parish Rosary Society, Navy Mothers Club and ACCW.

Survivors include her children, Beulah (Vernon) Kramer of Naples, Fla., Myrl Scheckel of Andrew, Anita (Vincent) Schmidt of rural Bellevue, Nora (Joe) Conner of Richmond, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one stepsister, Erma Weis of Springbrook; one sister-in-law, Doris Weis of Moline, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Martha Scheckel of Wisconsin and Daisy Clasen of LaMotte; one brother-in-law, Forian Scheckel of Springbrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, one half brother, five sisters and one stepsister.
