SPRINGBROOK — Richard J. Weis, 77, of Springbrook, died Sunday at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.

Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springbrook, with military honors accorded by Reveille American Legion Post 273, Bellevue.

He was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Springbrook to Leo J. and Mary Pleiser Weis. He married Elaine Kloft on June 7, 1952, in Springbrook.

He was a veteran of World War II serving from 1946 to 1949 in the U.S. Air Force.

He farmed in the Springbrook area and had a trucking business hauling cattle and hogs for area farmers. He and his wife also owned Northside Tap, Springbrook, from 1976 to 1981.

He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Springbook, and Reveille American Legion Post 273, Bellevue.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Rhonda (Gary) Cunningham, Vickie (Dave) Woods and Tammy (Kevin) Stoecken, all of Bellevue; one son, Bruce (Deb) Weis of Springbook; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred.

He was preceded in death by three sons, parents and a father and mother-in-law.
