MAQUOKETA — Barbara Jo “Barb” Gartman, 54, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday at Briarwood Care Center, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 29, 1952, in Clinton to Allen “Al” and Doris Jean Bowman Gartman.

She was a 1970 graduate of Delwood High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Clare College in Clinton in 1985.

She worked as a personal banker in the customer service department with US Bank, Maquoketa, from 1989 until February.

She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Maquoketa where she served in many capacities, including church treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the “Fearsome Foursome Group.”

Survivors include her children, Kristina (John) Frick of Williamsburg, Elizabeth Martinez of Charleston, S.C.; one grandchild; father and stepmother, Allen “Al” and Shirley Gartman of Maquoketa; one brother, Marc (Rachel) Gartman of Menasha, Wis.; and two sisters, Julie Scott of Davenport and Jane Wilkins of Iowa City.

A Barbara Jo “Barb” Gartman Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
