MAQUOKETA — Lois D. Donatsch, 74, of Maquoketa, died Sunday at the Maquoketa Care Center.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born May 29, 1932, in Galena, Ill., to Louis and Alverna Kuhl Kieffer. She married DeWayne Donatsch on Sept. 12, 1951, in Dubuque.

She was educated in rural schools and earned her General Equivalency Diploma in her 50s. At age 14, she worked for a school teacher and at 16 worked at restaurants, Savanna (Ill.) Ordnance Depot, Clinton Engines and gave in-home care to the elderly.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, Maquoketa, for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Trenkamp of Preston and Brenda Walker of Boston; three sons, Bob (Margie) Donatsch and Bryan Donatsch, both of Maquoketa, and Brent (Neva) Donatsch of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Mae Edmonds of Galena and Jane (Larry) Daniels of Henderson, Ky.; and three brothers, Steve (Carol) Kieffer of Scales Mound, Ill., Dave (Rose Ellen) Kieffer and Pete (Janet) Kieffer, both of Galena.

Memorials are preferred.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
