MAQUOKETA — Joyce Reese, 78, of Maquoketa, died Thursday at Briarwood Care Center, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in East Iron Hill Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born May 30, 1928, in Miles to Jens and Elsie Ringen Andersen. She married Clayton Kuhlman in September 1945 in Preston. She later married Donald H. Reese on March 13, 1964, in Morrison, Ill. He died in 1993.

She graduated from Miles High School in 1945.

She was a waitress for many years, farmed and also owned and operated Bluff Lake Catfish Farm with her husband, Don, from 1977 until they sold the business in 1989.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa. She also was on a bowling league.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Wells of Maquoketa; two sons, Larry (Cheryl) Kuhlman and Randy (Vickie) Kuhlman, both of Maquoketa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Bob) Grill of Dallas, Ruth Ann Daniels of Cedar Rapids and Rosie Daniels of Maquoketa; and two brothers, Robert Andersen of Elkader and Richard (Vicki) Andersen of Maquoketa.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jackson County or First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
