MAQUOKETA — Faye Arlene Eye Hammer, 81, of Maquoketa, died Wednesday at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in South Mineral Cemetery, rural Onslow.

She was born May 25, 1925, in Jackson County to William E. and Sarah Potter Moore. She married Clifford Eye on Sept. 27, 1941, in Maquoketa. He died in 1973. She then married William “Willie” Hammer on Feb. 5, 1977, in Maquoketa. He died in 1987.

She was educated in rural Jackson County country schools.

She worked on an assembly line at Clinton Engines, Maquoketa. She then worked in the laundry department at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa for 30 years before retiring in 1987.

Survivors include her children, Judy (James) Brown of Delmar, Peggy Miller of Maquoketa and William “Bill” Eye of Maquoketa; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Gertrude Auguston of Waterloo and Nellie Chase and Camilla Clark, both of Maquoketa; and several nieces and nephews.

A Faye Arlene Eye Hammer Memorial Fund has been established.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son, two brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.
