DELMAR — James F. “Jim” Hardin, 61, of Delmar, died Monday at the Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Burial will be in East Iron Hill Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, with a military flag presentation accorded by the Maquoketa American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 O’Connor-Regenwether and Andrew AMVETS Post 62.

He was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Dubuque to William and Freda E. Tharp Hardin. He married Patty Robinson on Jan. 9, 1980, in DeWitt.

He was a 1963 graduate of Maquoketa High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He worked with Alcoa, Bettendorf, for one year. He then worked with Oscar Mayer, Davenport, before retiring as a crew leader after 33 years. During his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Maquoketa and Delwood school districts until September.

He was a member of In-Fisherman.

Survivors include his wife; children, Angie (Bill) Robinson of Maquoketa, Shelley (Calvin) Breeden of Maquoketa and Roger (Devin) Hardin of Maquoketa; father, William “Bill” (Donna) Hardin of Maquoketa; one brother, Stan (Jacque) Hardin of Maquoketa; one sister, Martha (Bill) Heister of Texas; and seven grandchildren.

A James F. “Jim” Hardin Memorial Fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers and one grandchild.
