Corner Stone Laid
The corner stone for the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at LaMotte was laid with imposing ceremonies last Sunday afternoon. There was a large gathering of people and the ceremonies were conducted by twelve priests besides Archbishop Hennessy of Dubuque. The edifice is constructed of brick, 108 feet long and 44 feet in width. The steeple is to be 108 feet high and when completed it will be a very large and handsome structure.
Note: Holy Rosary Catholic Church was closed and sold in 2006 and the sacramental records were transferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa.
