Soldier Missing In Action Since March 26
ANDREW, May 13-Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Flint received word from the Rev. and Mrs. Richard Elzinga of Shedd, Oregon, that their only child, Richard Elzinga, has been listed as missing in action since March 26.
Richard Elzinga had been in Vietnam since October, 1969 at Cam Rahn Bay. On March 1st he left for Thailand, resting March 2 and 3rd at Bangkok. On March 4, he went to Udorn Air Force Base in North Thailand near Vientiane, Laos, and started flying. He was listing as missing over the Plain of Jars.
Richard, who is in his late twenties, was an air attaché for the embassy at Laos. The Rev. and Mrs. Elzinga and Richard lived in Andrew in the mid-40’s when the Rev. Elzinga served for four years as pastor of the Andrew Presbyterian Church.
