Iowa City Reporter, October 24, 1855, reprinted in the Maquoketa Sentinel, November 1, 1855.

A Horse Thief Caught-

On last Thursday evening Sheriff Birely arrested a man by the name of Haskins on a charge of stealing a horse. The horse was stolen from Jackson county in this state, and the thief was arrested in a cabin about two miles south of Tipton, and is now in custody. He is an aged man with gray hairs, and is believed to be an old offender.
The above we clip from the Iowa City Reporter of the 24th. The arrest appears to have been made on the 18th. Those who have had horses stolen about that time had better enquire into the matter at once. Mr. R. L. Goodenow, if we mistake not, had his stolen about that time.
