HORSE THIEVES ABOUT-

There has recently been several horses stolen in what is called the South Settlement, some three miles south of this place. Mr. R. L. Goodenow had a fine animal stolen a few weeks since, and on last Thursday night Mr. J. J. Ogden had a most valuable horse taken from the stable of Mr. Joseph Brown. Mr. Ogden offers more than a liberal reward for the recovery of his horse, as will be seen by his advertisement. We would suggest to farmers to use every vigilance in order to bring these scoundrels to justice, for we are of the strong opinion there is a regularly organized band of horse thieves prowling in and about our vicinity. Horses should be well secured by locks and those having valuable animals would do well to keep an eye out for these midnight horse thieves.
