Y.M.C.A. MAY CLOSE

A meeting of the Y.M.C.A. association was held last week to consider the situation and state of affairs of the association. After talking over the matter, the Board of Directors were authorized to close the institution if it seemed to them necessary to do so after conferring again with the State Association of Y.M.C.A

Close to $500 in pledges have already been handed in and other pledges are coming in daily. A letter from State Secretary Parsons, of Des Moines, states that he will visit Maquoketa before the month closes and will go over the situation with the Board of Directors, and if it is found that the institution cannot be maintained longer it will be closed the first of April.

The whole matter rests with the home people and their disposition to contribute the money that is necessary to maintain the institution. It ought to be supported and can be if each one would contribute according to his or her ability and financial resources.
