The Fourteenth Iowa General Assembly met January 8, 1872, at the State Capitol in Des Moines. The House of Representatives Republican Caucas elected Ben Van Steinburg of Jackson County as Assistant Clerk.(Biography in Portrait and Biographical Album of Jackson County, pages 592-593.)
