Jackson Sentinel, November 12, 1903:
Archbishop Keane arrived in Bellevue last Friday morning, coming from Cascade, and was received and escorted to the parsonage by the altar boys and priests. At ten o'clock the exercises began by the celebration of solemn high mass by Rev. Joseph Hageman of Flood Creek, assisted by Father Wagner as deacon and Father Knapstein of Springbrook as subdeacon and Father Jones of Cassville, Wis., master of ceremonies. At the conclusion of mass the Archbishop gave a very interesting and instructive sermon to the class, admonishing them to obey the laws of the church and of the state, and to shun intemperance, also various other evils, which he mentioned, after which His Grace assisted by Rev. Fathers Barry and Tritz, of Lyons proceeded with the confirming of a class of ninety-six, composed of boys, girls and several adults.
While speaking to the class the Archbishop used simple, but impressive language, and all who had the pleasure of hearing him on this occasion were deeply impressed.
From Bellevue, the Archbishop went to Springbrook, where he confirmed a class of sixty-five, and on Sunday a large class was confirmed at St. Donatus.
