Jackson Sentinel, November 2, 1854:
Monster Tooth.
Mr. George Lamson brought into our office a few days since, a mammoth tooth weighing 18 oz., in a good state of preservation. This tooth was found in digging a well on the farm of Mr. Lamson, 29 feet below the earth's surface. It is ahead of anything we have yet seen. There was no other bone found. The tooth appears to be the only relic of this supposed huge antedeluvian animal.
