HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE
About nine o'clock Sunday morning fire was discovered in the fine modern home of H. C. Straub eight miles east of Maquoketa, by members of the family, and although the neighbors responded promptly to the call for help, the fire had gained such headway that they were unable to save the house, but succeeded in saving some of the furniture from the first floor, and kept the fire from spreading to other buildings. It is thought the blaze started from an overheated furnace, and was spreading rapidly when discovered.
Mr. Straub carried some insurance on the house, but not sufficient to cover the loss. They expect to start building as soon as possible, and will live in their garage until their new home is finished.
It may be your property next. Insure with H. Gale Buchner. Better be safe than sorry.
DATE OF FIRE: Feb. 14, 1926
