NAME OF ARTICLE: MRS. BOWMAN DIES SUDDENLY

Mrs. Ara J. Bowman, lifelong resident of Maquoketa, died suddenly Friday evening in her home. Although she had not been in strong health,
her death came unexpectedly, as she was sitting in a chair in the living room of her home. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church, the Rev. Harry D. Green officiating, and burial was in Mt. Hope
cemetery.
The former Miss Bertha M. Keeley was born Nov. 9, 1876, in Maquoketa, the daughter of Francis and Charity Tubbs Keeley. On Sept. 7, 1893, she was married to Ara J. Bowman, and they celebrated their golden anniversary two years ago. To them were born 10 children, of
whom nine survive, and in addition they provided a home for three grand-children. She was a charter member of the local circle of Ladies of the G.A.R.
Surviving are her husband, nine children, 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The sons are Earl, Francis and Arthur, all of
Maquoketa, and the daughters Mrs. Blanche Wendel, Mrs. Marjorie Riggs, and Miss Eva Bowman, all of Maquoketa; Mrs. Florence
Wosoba, Clinton; Mrs. Ethelyn Hoerschelman, Esgate; and Mrs. Eleanor Berryhill, Iowa City.
She also leaves one brother, Ara Keeley of Brooklyn, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs. Myra Glaser, Mrs. Ione Wilson, and Mrs. Sybil
Romer, all of Maquoketa. A son, Gale Bowman, and a brother, Seneca Keeley, preceded her in death.
