The Sabula Gazette says: “Sheriff McCaffrey appears to be proving somewhat of a surprise to certain persons in the county”. Both before and since his election they were very loud in their statements that he would not attempt to do his duty when it came to the enforcement of the prohibitory law, and that when final papers were issued and placed in his hands they would remain there and never be served; that he would be the fool of another man. The result proves to the contrary, and even his worst enemies admit that he is doing his whole duty without fear or favor. O. H. McCaffrey will make as good a Sheriff as Jackson County ever had.”
