LANE, REX H., Executive, Lane Furniture Company, Maquoketa, born Maquoketa, September 19, 1889, son of Walter M. and Delia (Maskery) Lane. Graduated from Maquoketa High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. Began his career as salesman with Jamestown Upholstery Company of Jamestown, New York; was later assistant manager of Killian Company in Cedar Rapids. In 1916, joined his father in the Lane Furniture Company which had just taken its headquarters in a new building completed in that year. He is still in the same business and his son Walter is now associated with him. Member of Chamber of Commerce and for twenty-five years a member of Furniture Club of America. Member of Knights of Pythias lodge and Maquoketa Golf Club. He is a Methodist. Married, at Maquoketa on November 27, 1911, Wilma Nelson. Children: Walter, born 1918, now associated with his father; Jacqueline, born in 1927, the wife of Don Hoffman, who heads the Iowa Grave Vault Company. Walter is married to Naomi Nims and they have three sons. Mrs. Lane is active in club life.
