In response to your query.... yes, John E. BROWN is the son of Samuel Harrison BROWN and Melissa MYERS - who were married 4 Jul 1861 in Iowa Co. IA. And Samuel is the one who served in the Iowa 28th Infantry. Other children are: Daniel B; Jesse C; Sheridan P., and Mildred C. John E. BROWN married Mary Lewella BROWN in 1892 in Marengo, Iowa Co. IA. Mary is the daughter of Ebenezer S. BROWN [1830-1896] and Martha Jane [1834-1897]. I don't know when John died, but Mary was remarried in 1892 to Joseph HRDLICKA. So Herbert actually had two half sisters: Florence HRDLICKA who married Edward KADERA, and Mary HRDLICKA who married Paul Clifford BROWN. Samuel H. BROWN is the son of Squire BROWN and Priscilla JUSTICE.
