Funeral services for Johanna E. Geiger, 83, West Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, at the Middle Amana Community Church. She died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at her home.

Church elder Emilie Hoppe officiated at the service.

Burial was in the West Amana Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Johanna Ernstine Geiger was born Oct. 10, 1927, in South Amana, the daughter of Theodore and Susanna Wiswaesser Berger. She attended the South Amana School and graduated from Amana High School in 1946. She attended cosmetology school in Chicago, Ill.

She married Marvin Geiger Aug. 21, 1951, in Clark County, Nev. She was employed at many Amana area businesses, including the South Amana Sandwich Shop, Krauss Furniture, Amana Refrigeration, the Woolen Mill and the Ronneburg and Ox Yoke restaurants.

She also worked as a beautician. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and crafts of all sorts. She especially enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Geiger is survived by one son and his wife, Willard and Judy, Homestead; one daughter and her husband, Suzanne and Terry Beltz, Amana; six grandchildren and their spouses, Misty and Luis Martinez, Amana; Nichole and Cainnon Beltz, Amana; Jonathan and Angela Beltz, Cedar Rapids; Travis Beltz, Amana; Holly Geiger, Homestead, and Justin Geiger, North Liberty; four great-grandchildren, Riley Fox, Amana; Liam Beltz, Cedar Rapids; Jonah Beltz, Cedar Rapids, and Serina Martinez, Amana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1981, and her parents.
