Leona M. Roggentien Bischof, 89, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at Colonial Manor of Amana following an extended illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, New Apostolic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Larry Dollmeyer. Burial: Zion Reformed Church Cemetery, Millersburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the New Apostolic Church, Cedar Rapids, in her name.

She is survived by a son, Lyle Bischof of Middle Amana; a daughter-in-law, Karen Bischof Ramsey of Middle Amana; a son-in-law, Ivan Graesser of Marion; a brother-in-law, Laurel Seiberth of Lancaster, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; her granddog, Buddy; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; three brothers, Joseph, Ernest and Johnny Roggentien; a sister, Rosa Brown; a daughter, Donna Graesser; a son, Larry Bischof; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Bischof.

Leona Martha Roggentien was born July 7, 1916, in Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Frances Smith Roggentien. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1932 and married George Bischof in 1932 at Lancaster, Mo. Besides being a homemaker, Leona worked in the spinning department of the Amana Woolen Mill and later as a waitress. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1985.

For the past 32 years she has been a faithful member of the New Apostolic Church in Cedar Rapids, always in attendance and enjoying the fellowships provided by the church. She enjoyed gardening, along with her church activities and helping others in need.

For the past eight years, Leona has been residing at Colonial Manor in Middle Amana.
