Obituary: Ellen M. Pettibone was born in Iowa County, Iowa, November 28, 1856, and died at her home near North English, December 2, 1917, aged 61 years and 4 days.
She was married January 6, 1875, to George W. Wallace. They were the parents of six children, Lydia, who died at the age of 20, Frank L. and Leroy G of North English, William E. and John R. of Williamsburg, and Mrs. Mick of Ottumwa. These latter with the life-long companion and a number of grand-children remain in sad bereavement, as do two brothers, O.L.C. Pettibone of North English and David L. Pettibone of Carville, Oregon and one sister Mrs. Mary. A. Palmer, of Orlando, Florida.
Deceased with her husband was baptized into Christ at Yankee Point on February 1877, soon after their marriage. Both husband and wife have been life-long members of the North English Christian Church. In the days gone none were more faithful attendants. The influence of Christianity have had a permanent place in the life of the deceased mother and companion.
"Whosoever liveth, and believeth in Me shall never die" - this the Pearl of Great Price.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church Tuesday, December 4, by Rev. R.B. Hyten. The body was laid to rest in North English Cemetery.
To the kind friends and neighbors who assisted us with their live and sympathy in the illness and death of our companion and mother we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude.
Geo. W. Wallace and family
