Well Known Retired Farmer of this Community Goes to Great Beyond - age 82 years.

George W. Wallace, one of the most respected and well known retired farmers of North English passed away at his home Sunday morning at 2:30 after an illness of a couple of weeks form pneumonia. He lived in this community for nearly 80 years. he was a successful farmer and a good citizen - one who always was striving for better things.

George W. Wallace, youngest child of William and Lydia Wallace, was born in Round Head, Ohio, September 4, 1852, and died at his home in North English, December 9, 1934 aged 82 7years, 3 months and 5 days.

In 1855 his parents moved with their family to Iowa and settled on a farm in Fillmore township, Iowa County, where he grew to manhood, living in this community almost all his entire life.

On January 6, 1875 he was untied in marriage to Ellen M. Pettibone. To this union were born six children, one daughter, Lydia, passing away at the age of 20 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace united with the Yankee Point Church in 1877 under the ministry of Wm. Eckerman, later transferring their membership to the North English congregation. Throughout his long life Mr. Wallace was faithful to the Church of Christ. he served for many years as trustee, deacon and elder of the North English Church. His faithfulness is seen in the fact of his attendance at the Worship of God on the Lord's day prior to his death.

Losing his life companion by death December 2, 1917, Mr. Wallace came to North English to make his home with his sister, Miss Anne Wallace, thus the declining years of his life were spent in quietude and loving care, the one for the other, contented and happy in the fellowship of the church, neighbors, and friends.

A long life well spent has come to its close leaving to mourn the loss, his children, Frank L. and Leroy G of North English, Wm E. of Williamsburg, John R. of Beltrami, Minn, and Mrs. Wm Mick of Highland Center. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the First Christian Church in charge of the pastor, LR Hudson. Interment was made in the North English cemetery.

Pallbearers were: E.L. Graham, R.L. Simmons, Homer Kirkpatrick, N. S. Miller, Milo Stover, and Ora Lown.
