Obituary - Funeral Saturday for Ray Mahannah

North English: Funeral services were held Saturday at the Christian Church in North English following rites in Streator, Illinois for Ray Mahannah.

Mr. Mahannah died suddenly Wednesday of last week. He and Mrs. Mahannah had visited in North English a week ago. From here they went to Des Moines to visit a son, Stanley and while there he became ill. However, after a few days he felt better and his son drove them to Adel to visit a daughter, Mrs. Richard Ehrhardt. They took them back to Des Moines and Mr. Mahannah was able to drive back to his home at Streator before collapsing.

Mrs. Dean Thomas and Mrs. A.C. Schoenthaler sang accompanied by Mrs. Pearl Warner.

Burial was in the North English Cemetery.

Ray Charles Mahannah, 60, son of Curtis and Evangeline Mahannah, was born May 29, 1892. He spent his entire life in North English with the exception of the past few years which he had lived at Streator, Illinois.

He was assistant agent at the Milwaukee depot here for many years. Later he operated the Standard oil station and worked at the creamery.

In 1916, the deceased man, was married to Edith Smith of North English. To this union were born three children. Mrs. Edith Mahannah died in 1939.

On June 1, 1947, he was married to Arline Johnson of Streator, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, three children, Stanley of Des Moines, Donald of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Katherine Ehrhardt of Adel. Also surviving are five brothers, Ernest of San Francisco, California, Willis of Butte, Nebraska, Verne of Coville, Wayne of Pueblo, Colorado, and Clark of Cedar Rapids, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith of North English, Mrs Nelle Kaufman of Newton and Mrs. Edith Hiltbrunner of Cedar Rapids.
