Funeral services were held at the Hoover funeral home Wednesday afternoon, the Rev Arthur G. Emerson officiating. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Emil Timmerman, Mrs Frank Brown and Ethel Bolger.

A lifelong resident of the Marengo community, Mr. Simmons was born here Jan. 31, 1873, the son of Mervin and Mary Simmons.

In 1895, he was married to Kathryn Miller, who, together with a son, Lloyd R., and a daughter, Mrs. Irene Rathjen, survive. Four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Mark, of Marengo, also survive.

For many years, Mr. Simmons was engaged in various business endeavors in this city, but in more recent years has spent most of his time managing his farm interests.
