Jack Blaine's Obituary in "Marengo, The County Seat"
Jack Blaine, 89, died 28 Feb 1982 at Marengo Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct 15, 1892 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of William and Freiricka Kraus Real. After his Mother's death, he and his sister, Grace were placed in an orphange and when he was seven, he and his sister came from New York on the "Orphan Train" to Marengo. He was adopted by the William Blaines and attended rural school in Sumner Twsp Iowa Co. IA. He farmed near Marengo and married Alina Burgen in 1938. For awhile they lived and worked in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Marengo from 1965, until death. Besides his sister, Grace Fisher, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, he had one daughter, Norene (Mrs Kenneth Danskin), Marengo; one son, Edwin, San Jose, CA; and a grandson, Bob.
