Funeral service for Ronald Dietze, 71, Marengo, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 9, at the First United Methodist Church, Marengo. He died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Diane Vorhies will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Ronald Dietze was born Aug. 23, 1945, in Iowa City, the son of Dean and Louine Schwab Dietze. He attended Williamsburg High School.

He married Sherry Kaye Klein Dietze on Oct. 26, 1972, in Marengo. He had worked at Iowa City Metro Pavers, working alongside his dad and brothers, Marengo Ready Mix, and Young’s Iowa County Ready Mix, until starting his own trucking business with his family, R.D. Dietze and Sons.

He enjoyed fishing, cabin life, boating, trail riding with four wheelers and side by sides, fishing trips with his friends, and spending time with his Chow, “Buddy.”

Dietze is survived by his wife, Sherry, Marengo; three children, Angela (Brad) Allison, Kinross; Danny Dietze, Marengo, and Chris (Tanya) Sparrowgrove, Ladora; three siblings, Kay (Levi) Williams, Williamsburg; Jim (Jane) Dietze, Williamsburg, and Carol (Chet) Ballard, North English; seven grandchildren, Annie (Zac) Schott, Alicia Weber (Matt Brower), Evan and Casey Dietze, Hannah, Abby and Wyatt Sparrowgrove, and six great-grandchildren, Bentley, Forrest, Bella, Mallory, Bryce and Maci.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Chad and Tracy Dietze; a grandson, Corey Yardley, and a brother, Gerald Dietze.
