Celebration of life service for Charles “CG” Moore, 86, Keswick, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. He died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Lantern Park Nursing Home, Coralville, after a short illness.

The Rev. James Park officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Sixteen Cemetery, What Cheer.

Powell Funeral Home, North English, was in charge of arrangements. Messages may be sent to the family at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Charles “CG” Moore was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Harper, the son of Menzo and Inez (Mott) Moore. He graduated from Keswick High School in 1949. He lived in the Keswick area all his life and served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was a 62-year member of the James Murphy American Legion Post 319 of Keswick. He started working at Amana Refrigeration in 1954.

He married Glenice Slonaker on June 28, 1958, at the United Methodist Church, Keswick. He loved spending time with his family, country music dancing and fishing. His hobbies were working on lawn mowers and wood working.

Moore is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Glenice; three daughters: Shirley (Mike) Gent, Webster; Susan (Richard) Lucas, North English, and Sharon (Mike) Lucas, Cedar Rapids; a son, Scott (Robyn) Moore, Fort Collins Colo.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Odenell, Ankeny, and Doris Wright, Webster; a brother, Jimmie (JoAnn) Moore, Keswick, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren: Sybrina Lucas and Justin Lucas, and two brothers-in-law, Dale Wright and Francis Odonell.
