Celebration of life service for Charles R. Rodgers, 62, Williamsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Richard Meyer will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg

A memorial fund has been established for the Lutheran Interparish School, Immanuel Lutheran Church or Iowa City Hospice.

Chuck was born July 15, 1953, in Sigourney, the son of Charles and Norma (Herdlicka) Rodgers. He graduated from Deep River-Millersburg High School in 1972.

On Sept. 6, 1975, he married Carolyn Schwarting at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. A lifelong resident of Iowa County, Chuck worked in maintenance at Williamsburg Manufacturing until becoming disabled 12 years ago. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching the Hawkeyes and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Rodgers is survived by his wife, Carolyn, Williamsburg; daughter: Chelsey (Mark) Kolpin, Grinnell; son, Colin Rodgers (Julie Gast), Marengo; two grandchildren, Bryce and Lily Kolpin; brother, Phillip (Kristy) Rodgers, Millersburg, and sister, Susan (Steve) McCleary-Bain, Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Linda Rodgers, and brother Jonathan Rodgers.
