Funeral service for Max R. Herrmann, 84, Ladora, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at the Belle Plaine Nursing Home.

The Rev. Jim Davis will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Max Rudolph Herrmann was born Oct, 15, 1932, in Ladora, the son of Adolf and Elisabeth Scheidt Herrmann. He graduated from the Ladora High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 54, serving in Korea.

He and Mary Hartwig were married in 1961. The couple later divorced. He was a farmer and electrician by profession. He was a lifetime member and commander of the Ladora American Legion Post 621, a member of the Marengo Legion Post #76, the NRA, and the Iowa Long Rifle. Max enjoyed collecting old gas engines and farm toys.

Hermann is survived by one son, Eric and wife Melissa, Marengo; three grandchildren, Joseph, Anna and Ellie Herrmann, and a special friend Elaine Behounek, Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
