Richard Clinton Strausser, 78, of Cedar Rapids, left his earthly home Sunday, November 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Services celebrating his life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Cedar Hills Community Church by Pastor Kent Landhuis. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Teahen Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Richard was born to Richard M. and Hazel McMasters Strausser on January 25, 1938 at North English, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Jean Schlagel on December 15, 1957 in Marion, Iowa.

Richard is survived by his wife Jean; four children Kim Strausser and Jeff Strausser (Patty Bray) of Cedar Rapids, Kelli (Randy Zimmerman) Strausser of Grand Prairie, TX and Jonn (Lisa) Strausser of Anamosa; 10 grandchildren Alicia Meade of Solon, Cindy (Jay) Griffith and Bobbie Sines (Steve Hoover) of Cedar Rapids, Dan Noehl, CJ Hoffpauir (Sondra), Kristina (Tony) Simmons of Marion, Katie (Matt) Walton of Clutier, Matt (Kelsey) Strausser of Iowa City and Bailey and Maddie Strausser of Anamosa; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters Shirley Wade of North English and Mary Wolf of Deep River; special friend Casey and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Evelyn Morse, Elsie Nelson and Elizabeth Grier, brother-in-law Ellis Morse, two nephews and four nieces.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cedar Hills Community Church Open Hands Pantry or Hospice of Mercy.
