Funeral service for Floyd W. “Bill” Hollopeter, 83, Ladora, was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, in Belle Plaine.

The Rev. Cindi McKee officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora, with military honors.

A memorial fund has been established.

Floyd William Hollopeter was born April 1, 1933, in Ladora, the son of Charles Oscar and Laura Ida Slaymaker Hollopeter. He graduated from Ladora High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.

He married Mardean Mae Hupfeld Aug. 28, 1959. The couple farmed for many years in the Ladora area. He was a man who loved his profession. The farm was his favorite pastime. He also enjoyed cutting wood, and making things for his family and friends.

Hollopeter is survived by his children, David Hollopeter, Ladora; Rick Hollopeter, Ladora; Kevin (Dee) Hollopeter, Cedar Rapids, and Marlyce (Daren) Folkmann, Marengo; three grandchildren, Angela (Joshua) Schnebbe, Victor; Doug (Lisa) Folkmann, Ladora, and Micheal Folkmann, Marengo, and a great-grandchild, Mallory Jo Folkmann, Ladora.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mardean Hupfield Hollopeter; his parents; four brothers, Lawrence, Charles, Dean and Frank, and sisters, Hazel, Mary and Betty.
