Celebration of life service for Robert D. Reinert, 85, North English, was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Powell Funeral Home, North English. He died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

Pastor Luke Caster officiated at the service.

Burial was in the North English Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in memory to Mahaska County Hospice or English Valleys Community Schools.

Robert Dale Reinert was born Nov. 20, 1930, near Harper, the son of Harold Albert and Adella M. (Fry) Reinert. He attended a one-room country school and graduated from Webster High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On May 23, 1953, he married Doris Jean Lekin at the North English Methodist Church. They lived in Kentucky from 1952 to 1954, the farm just off of Pigeon Road from 1955 to 1964 and in the fall of 1964 they moved into North English. He was a self-employed carpenter for 46 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a trustee for the North English Methodist Church and a volunteer for the North English Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting antique tools and tractors, making furniture for his daughters and grandchildren and attending sporting events and his grandchildren’s activities.

Reinert is survived by his wife, Doris, North English; two daughters Roberta (Craig) Trost, East Lyme, Conn., and Melody (Eric) Schwenke, Sigourney; five grandchildren Jason (Astrid) Trost, London, England; Brian (Lucy) Trost, East Lyme; Ryne (Emily) Schwenke, North English; Kory (Paige) Schwenke, Keota, and Megan Schwenke, Cedar Falls; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Lillian Trost; and a sister, Betty (Dick) Smith, Walford.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
