A celebration of life and funeral mass was observed for Dolores Shay, 85.

Burial is at the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Hardington Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Shay died Aug. 9.

Dolores Glentzer was born in Marengo to Edgar and Ruth [Ward] Glentzer on New Year’s Day in 1931. Dolores graduated from Marengo High School in 1949. In 1969, she married Richard “Dick” Shay, and shortly thereafter they started a family with the addition of Allison in 1970. Following Allison’s birth, Dick and Dolores adopted Courtney. In 1975, their first son, Jonathan “Casey” was born. The next adoption brought another daughter into the family, Megan. Not quite finished adding to their clan, Dick and Dolores adopted twins, Pat and Mike, in 1979.

As a result of their love for each other and a desire to raise a strong, Catholic family, Dick and Dolores are survived not only by their children, but by 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dolores is also survived by her older sister, Rosemary Baxter and her six children.
