BELLE PLAINE - Verna Kramer, 93, formerly of Luzerne, passed away on Oct. 7, 2016, at Belle Plaine Nursing and Care Center three days after her 93rd birthday.

Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday October 15, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, in Blairstown, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Luzerne.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Central Lutheran School in Newhall, or Valparaiso University in Indiana. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com

Verna Jilleen Faas Johnson Kramer was born at home near Millersburg to Carl and Edna (Floerchinger) Faas. She attended country school through the eighth grade, two years of high school in Millersburg and the last two years in Marengo where she graduated and worked at the bank.

She was baptized, confirmed and married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg. On Jan. 31, 1942, Verna married Ralph Johnson of Koszta, and they farmed north of Koszta. Ralph proceeded her in death in 1964.

On Aug. 20, 1967, she married Kenneth Kramer, a farmer of Luzerne, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Parsonage by Pastor Paul Eggold. Ken proceeded her in death in 1975. She then resided in the town of Luzerne until 2012 when she moved to the Belle Plaine Care Center.

Verna is survived by her sons, Russell (Bonnie) Johnson, Pleasantville, and Glen (Kathy) Johnson, Whitehall, WI; daughter, Linda (Glen) McElroy, Koszta; step-children, Jim (Mako) Bockholt, Palo Alto, CA, and Annie (Raymond) Brecht, Blairstown; step-daughter-in-law, Chris (Dennis) DeVore; grandchildren, Jill (Jeff) Eschman, Jerrett (Daria) Johnson, Ben (Kim), and Nicki Johnson, Joel, Jeff and Jon McElroy, Travis (Sara) Kramer, Olivia Mensing, Brooke (Joel) Whiteside, Kim (Stuart) Arnold, Pat and Dustin Brecht, Kenneth (Wendy) and Laura Bockholt, and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Melvin (Marie) Faas of Lincoln, NE, and Dairyl Faas of North English; sister, Ethel (Darl) Lee of Carlisle, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands; parents; sister, Eileen; son, Kenneth Johnson; step-children, Donn Kramer and Patricia Kramer Mensing and sister-in-law Edna Faas.

Verna’s family wish to thank all her friends and relatives who visited her so faithfully while she was at the care center and to the staff of Belle Plaine Care Center who were so kind to her.
