Private family graveside services for Donald L. Phillips, 67, Marengo, were held recently at Greensberg Cemetery, Greensberg, Mo. He died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Lexington Square, Keokuk.

DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers, Keokuk, was in charge of arrangements. Tributes and condolences may be left at www.dejongsfuneralhome.com.

Donald Lee Phillips was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Oskaloosa, the son of Louis Wesley and Nellie Lucille Salyers Phillips. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, and bowling and was a fan of John Wayne and Elvis.

Phillips is survived by nine brothers and sisters, Linda Olson, Marengo; Tina (Mike) Corkrean, Winterset; Larry (Yong) Phillips, New Braunfels, Texas; Lucretia O’Donell, Des Moines; Lucinda Murphy, Truro; Rose Stephenson, Truro; Sue Cochran, Columbia, Mo.; Carl Rucker Jr., Kansas City, Mo., and Reuben “Burt” Rucker, Winterset, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his adoptive parents, Melvin and Grace Phillips; brother, in infancy, Otho Wesley Philips; grandparents, John and May Phillips and Otho and Lena (Bane) Salyers, and numerous aunts and uncles.
