William D. Bills, age 52 of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly Sunday, August 21, 2016, from a heart attack at his family cabin at Delhi. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. David Renfro officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, rural Atkins. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and 1 hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Memorials may be contributed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School, or the American Heart Association.

Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill is survived by his wife Debbie, a daughter Megan and a son David, all of Cedar Rapids; his father William Frank Bills (Nancy) of Cedar Rapids; a brother Mike (Sandy) of Cedar Rapids, and a sister Pam Kaufman (Gary) of Hiawatha.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Jo Bills, an uncle Earl Bills and his father-in-law, William Ficken.

William David Bills was born June 12, 1964 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William Frank Bills and Mary Jo Becker Bills. He graduated from Washington High School, Cedar Rapids, with the Class of 1983 and married Debbie Ficken on July 2, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple made their home in Cedar Rapids.

In 1972, William’s father, uncle and grandfather started a family business, Bills’ Brothers Furniture. William went to work with them shortly after his graduation and was an integral part of the business through the years.

He enjoyed NASCAR events, and was avid follower of the Rough Riders Hockey and the Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball teams. He loved fishing, golfing, boating, and the Lutheran Mixed Bowling League with Debbie. He especially cherished the times spent with family and friends at the cabin in Delhi, often grilling tasty meals for all.
