Jacquelene Gable, the daughter of George and Hilda (Schroeder) Soll was born in Bloomfield, NE on October 29, 1926. She received her early education at District 65 Rural School while living in Nebraska. The family relocated to Paullina, IA in 1936, where Jackie graduated from Paullina High School in 1944. Following graduation, she attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, IA, Midland College at Freemont, NE, and Morningside College at Sioux City, IA to obtain her degree in elementary education.
Jackie taught at the elementary level in the Everly and Hartley, IA school systems until her marriage to Robert Gable in 1954. The couple enjoyed 61 years together and were blessed with two children: Margaret Anne and Stanley Soll.
Jackie was an active member of the Hartley United Methodist Church, and Chapter CW PEO for over 50 years, holding various offices during that time. She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, a 50-year member of the Y'eltrah Club and had served as a Rainbow Girls instructor and president of the O'Brien County Women's Club. She taught microwave cooking classes for Midwest Electric, Inc., and served with the Milk Made Magic program, making new friends with every experience. She especially enjoyed judging 4-H projects at local county fairs, and working with youth of all ages.
Jackie's family was very important to her, so following her grandchildrens' school activities was always a highlight. The kids fondly remember grandma's good cookies, cinnamon rolls, and her fantastic chicken noodle soup. She loved to cook and could always find room for one more at her table. Jackie passed from this life on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the age of 89.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her father and mother-in-law; and a special aunt.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert; her children: Margaret Anne (Paul) Staman of Amana, IA, and Stanley Soll (Lynette) Gable of Hartley, IA; grandchildren: Rachel (Alan) Mejibovsky, Colton (Megan) Gable, Preston (Amber) Gable, Thurston Gable and Katherine Blockhus; great-granddaughter, McKenzee Gable; and a host of wonderful friends.
