Funeral service for Darryl D. Gast, 52, New Providence, was held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at Cornerstone Church of Christ, Zearing. He died Aug. 28, 2015.

The Rev. Chuck Ryan officiated at the service. Pianist was Laurie Cocking.

Burial was in the New Providence Cemetery, New Providence. Casket bearers were the New Providence Township Fire Department.

Memorials may be directed in care of the Greenbelt Bank and Trust, 1509 Edgington Ave., Eldora, Iowa 50627.

Boeke Funeral Home, Hubbard, was in charge of arrangements.

Darryl Duane Gast was born May 24, 1963, in Des Moines, the son of Duane and Iva (Campbell) Gast. He grew up on an acreage outside of New Providence. After his schooling, he moved to Texas and eventually met the love of his life in Las Vegas, Nev. He and Rosetta Smith were married in 1996. Soon after their marriage, they decided to move back to the family farm to raise a large family. He opened D and D Automotive on the family farm and later expanded it into Hubbard.

Faith, family and love were most important to him, but he also enjoyed animals, Harley Davidsons, camping and his many cars. He loved helping his community.

He was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ near Zearing and was a 13-year member of the New Providence Township Fire Department.

Let us give thanks to God for the life and memory of Darryl D. Gast.

Gast is survived by his wife of 19 years, Rosie, New Providence; 20 children, David Duane (Caitlin) Gast; Natalie (Eric) Lindahl, Julie Gast, David Lee (Jennifer) Woodward, Veronia (Shane) Wentling, April (Bill) Earl, Shane (Autumn) Gast, Jerha Gast, Caleb Gast, Corbin Gast, Tearza Gast, Alonzo Gast, Siera Gast, Dillon Gast, Michael Gast, Lanndon Gast, Andrew Gast, William Gast, Billy Gast and Emma Gast; eight grandchildren; one sister and best friend, Tami (Mike) Kohrell; stepfather, Henry Rose; three stepbrothers, Jim, Don and Gary Rose, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Docky, Clifford, Charles and Dalton; sisters, Ethel and Hazel, and four siblings who died at birth.
