Funeral service for Marlena A. Kerr, 79, Cedar Rapids, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. She died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids.

The Rev. Bob Streeter officiated at the service.

Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marlena Ardella Kerr was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Meyer) Buhrmann.

She married James H. Kerr Dec. 7, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. She worked in the Cedar Rapids Community School district as a kitchen cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Kerr is survived by her children, Gregory (Barbara) Kerr, Marion; Gary (Crystal) Kerr, Marion, and daughter, Deanna (Randall) Hixson, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Mandrea Dolphin, Steven Evans, Cara Tower and Christopher Dees, and a great-grandchild, Ty Dolphin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1996; her parents; three brothers, Robert, Arlan and Arndt Buhrmann, and a sister, Marcella Buhrmann.
