Marguerite Carney, 68

Graveside memorial service for Marguerite “Margie” Carney, 68, Parnell, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell. She died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial fund has been established.

Marguerite Joan Carney was born Dec. 18, 1946, in Parnell, the daughter of James V. and Henrietta Wille Carney. She attended the Parnell schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School.

She owned and operated the Royal Beauty Salon for 23 years, the Parnell Sandwich and Cone for seven years and for the last 26 years, worked as a nutritionist with Handicare Day Care, Coralville. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching “Blue Bloods” and “General Hospital” on television.

She is survived by her partner, Duane Wiebold, Parnell; one son, Jim Carney (Jessica Keller), Chelsea; a granddaughter, Bethany Carney (Jake Weldon), Fort Wayne, Ind., and a grandson, J.J. Carney, Williamsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Pug Kelly.
