Harold E. Byram, 76, Georgetown, Texas, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, departed from his loved ones Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

The Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Eugene Byram was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Davenport, the son of Arthur and Ruby (Coy) Byram. He attended elementary schools in Davenport, Conroy and Marengo. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1957. He attended Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) on a dual track and football scholarship and received a bachelor of arts degree in industrial education in 1961.

Before his senior year, he married Janet Hibbs on Aug. 28, 1960. He earned his executive MBA in marketing from the University of Nebraska in 1982. He held his pilot’s license and was a certified flight instructor.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Va. After teaching high school for five years, he began a career in engineering and manufacturing management at Chamberlain Manufacturing, Waterloo. He then joined Norden Labs in Lincoln, Neb., in 1972 and was VP of manufacturing at his retirement in 1992. Following a brief retirement, he served as VP of manufacturing for Sanofi Animal Health in Overland Park, Kan., until 1994.

The couple moved to Georgetown in 1997. He enjoyed traveling, reading woodworking, weaving and spending time with his family, co-workers, friends and neighbors. His appreciation for the performing arts included the symphony and his granddaughters’ dance performances.

Byram is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Scott (Jane); daughter, Julianne (Trent) Bauer; three very special granddaughters, Bailey, Madyson and Halle Bauer; sister-in-law, Helen Byram; sister-in-law, Sheryl (Richard) Peshek; brother-in-law, Bob (Bark) Hibbs; aunt, Donna Hefti, and cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James, and in-laws, Charles and Helen (Kramer) Hibbs.
