Everett Iburg, 77

Celebration of life service for Everett A. Iburg, 77, Victor, was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at St. James Lutheran Church, Victor. He died Aug. 21, 2015, at his home.

The Rev. Michael Kolesar officiated at the service.

Inurnment was in Victor Memorial Cemetery, Victor.

A memorial fund has been established.

Everett A. Iburg was born Oct. 15, 1937, at Williamsburg, the youngest child of Louis H. and Martha (Newkirk) Iburg. He was baptized Nov. 14, 1937, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. His baptismal sponsors were Arthur Newkirk and Hilda Von Weihe. He was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church March 18, 1951. His confirmation verse was Matthew 24:13.

He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through the eighth grade and graduated from there May 25, 1951. He entered the US Navy at age 17 in 1955 and enlisted for three years, one month and 29 days. He attained the rank of third class petty officer and E4 pay scale and the Navy referred to his service as the “Kiddie Cruise,” (a ship full of 17 to 20 year olds).

He married A. Joan Safken April 1, 1962. He was active in the Victor community, serving as a city council member, on the cemetery board, as a volunteer fireman, church elder, church choir member, church offering counter and loved to have coffee with folks in the morning and loved model airplanes.

He was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, Victor, until the last few years of his life when health made getting around difficult.

Iburg is survived by his daughter, Leanne (Keith) Brozek; three grandsons, Jeffrey (Lindsay Bohaty), and Gregory (Rachael Fangmeier); two sisters, Erna Davies and Florine Rowe; one brother, Louis (Leora) Iburg, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother and sisters.
