Robert J. Markwell, 66, North English, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. No funeral service will be held.

Robert John Markwell was born Aug. 20, 1948, near North English, the son of Max Wallace and Lucille Dorothy (Crawford) Markwell. The family lived on a farm north of North English. Robert and his brother, Keith, loved to follow their dad around and help with chores.

Following their mother’s death, Robert and Keith moved to Hillside Estate near Williamsburg. In October 2007, they became residents of the English Valley Care Center, North English.

Markwell is survived by several aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith.
