Preston Shaw, 76, Malcom, died June 2, 2015, at his home. A prayer service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, at Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell, with the Rev. Christine Pauley, Malcom United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

Memorials may be made to the Ivy Hill Cemetery Association.

Preston Shaw was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Malcom, the son of Price and Sylvia Dykes Shaw. He was raised in Malcom and was a 1956 graduate of Malcom High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving with the 818th Operations Squadron.

He was employed for many years at Donaldson Company, Grinnell, and for several years in the 1980s he owned and operated the Montezuma Tap.

He was a member of the Grinnell Eagles Club, Grinnell Elks Lodge and the Masons, Poweshiek Lodge #174 and Grand Lodge of Iowa A.F. and A.M.

He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, fishing trips to Minnesota with family and friends and mowing. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed all the family celebrations and gatherings.

Shaw is survived by his sister, Mertie Kinnard, East Dubuque; seven nieces and nephews, Tim Kinnard, East Dubuque; Curt (Jill) Kinnard, Tiffin; Jim (Marcia) Puls, Grinnell; Dale (Cathy) Puls, Grinnell; Gary Puls, Grinnell; Shirley (Reed) Hoeppner, Marengo, and Linda (Dan) Baumgartner, Readlyn, and many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Shaw, and one sister, Sybil Puls.
