Raymond Stockstell, 94

Celebration of life service for Raymond C. Stockstell, 94, Washington, was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona. He died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at McCreedy Home, Washington.

Chaplain Robert Spilger officiated at the service. The body was cremated following the service and burial will be at a later date.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Raymond Cecil Stockstell was born May 26, 1920, in Houston, Mo., the son of Charles Stockstell and Lillian Ward. He married Marjorie Dietrich in Keswick on Nov. 23, 1940.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a forklift operator at Crane Company for 15 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He played the guitar and played with the Iowa Plowboys band.

Stockstell is survived by one daughter, Kathy Stockstell, Washington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Stockstell, Marshalltown, and one sister, Emmajean Young, Chicago, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, in 2012; his parents; two sons, Ron and Tim Stockstell; two daughters, Betty Ann Stockstell and Mary Reschly, and two grandchildren, Shawndell and Amanda Stockstell.
